You want ones that haven't been posted here? Like the marbles/koi?

HI Tom
I think that would be a great idea. If it were to be a list with photos of each of the types of angelfish that was pasted to the top of the angelfish species specific category it would make ID'ing an angelfish that much easier for all. ;D

I want it with a pic and then the variety right beside it. The pics are in a list format.

I know a great little (and very cheap) book that describes in detail all about Angelfish, including all varieties of Angels:

This is a good website too:

Thanks, I have seen the book in stores and never thought to look in it. The website doesn't have the kinds that I am looking for though. Thanks anyways, I am going to the store tomorrow and I will see if they have it there.

Well I don't think that mine looks like either of those photos. The fins are different, and I really don't think that mine is a half black. I think it looks just like the Altum that was in your earlier post. ;D Are those your fish in this last post?

No unfortunately not!
I have a black and 2 golden marbles?.

Why I said it looks more like a silver is because yours has the same dark stripe at the back and the faint strip by the eye like the silver. While, the altum has full stripes vertically across its body.

ummmmm.. I see what you mean. I see its veritcal stripes come out clearer from time to time, and at stress times, it pales out. Guess will just have to wait and see as it matures what it is. Olie, the striped one is about.. 6 inches tall from tip of its top fin to tip of its bottom fin. Its body size is three inches tall. Wonder if its near its maturity already? The marble ( Stan) is about 5 inches from tip to tip and almost 3 inches in body size.

Yep it does! Mine (Survivor) has less orange though, just a little bit.

Yes I was just thinking that maybe only when they become mature then only the stripes get bolder...

HI Isabella
I agree with you... those true all black angels are gorgeous! I saw a few at my LFS once and really thought they were very striking. But didnt want to get another with the two angels that I have.... Ohhh wellll.... But maybe someday if I were to add another angel fish, it would be the black.... or the koi lol.

Great thanks, I was able to find out that I have a golden marble angel(Angel), and I had a wild angel(Altum). I had no idea Altum was a wild type, if you don't believe me, take a look at this;

and Altum is down below. I am still trying to ID Stanley.

Yes Allie, I think my silver angel is a zebra.
The altum has 3 stripes while the zebra has 4.

Hey, what do you think about sticking this topic?
Its helpful for ppl when they want to id their angels?

I think it's a good idea. Just did it.

Can we leave only the ID-relevant stuff maybe? Am thinking if I was trying to ID an angel, I'd not like to have to go through our chats. What do you think? Can I be delete-happy again and remove all the posts in here that aren't related? I consider stickies to be reference material, so it's nicer to make it nice and structured for people.

Also, are the pictures attached taken by yourselves? If not, we'll need to credit them with author and website where you found them, or we might get in trouble.

Nope, most of the pix I got of the web. I can find the websites and put them down when I get a chance.

Couldnt you make another Topic and put all the chat in there?
But I suppose that's for Tom to say as its his topic...

It's in the forum rules. We're not allowed to use other people's material (photos, etc.) without duely creditting them. Sorry, Sabi. I think we might get in trouble if you don't find a way to credit them.

Sure, sure. I don't think we'll all burn in **** for the sake of a few hours, but as it's a sticky, indeed, we just need to be double-careful. No probs at all. Thanks for being so understanding. I'll just leave it as it is and you can add the credits.

According to , we are technically not even allowed to post these pictures at all without prior permission. However, it seems that internet etiquette tolerates it in general if the name of the site and a link to the source are provided. So I think you'd also need to add the URL to be fair to them. I really like what you did. I mean it does help ID the fish in one central place, that's great!

Just a suggestion you could add this link. It's for the types of or phenotypes of angelfish. I found out a lot about phenotypes thru there.

Guys (Sabi's on her way collecting the sources), great work on the detective work with the angel pictures. You'll sure help a lot of people ID'ing their angel. One thing, though, please always quote the website where you got the pictures from if they're not yours, or we might get in trouble. Ta very much.

OK, Tom, Sabi. After a while, I'll remove the chats (mine included ) on this one as it's a sticky. I'll try to split long threads on the same thing to a new topic.
