I have heard of people doing a all female betta tank....Ive always wanted to have one. Any suggestions just to start off with? I was thinking of at least 5-6 female bettas. 30 gallon tank? Plants of course and probably bare bottom tank just to keep it cleaner. I do have supplies (filters, cleaner supplies, heater etc) Is there anyway I can make this happen?

You could probably do 8-9 if no other fish. Or 5-6 with cories if you want even a dull slow swimming schooling fish could be possible.

Based on my own sorority, here's what I would suggest. Minimum 20 gallon tank. Medium to heavy planted tank. Minimum 5 to 7 Betta females. If possible get them from the same tank, from your lfs and not from separate jars. Expect a little nipping to establish territories. It is a challenge, but when you succeed it's all worth it. Hope this helps.

david1978 I was maybe thinking of having some ottos like 5-6 and corys too 5-6. Would that work if I had like 7 betta females? If it did what size of tank would you guys recommend? I would think a 30-50 gallon would be fair game. What kind of plants would be ideal for low lighting and low maintenance? varmint
Yes I am prepared to witness fin nipping and territory fights. You would expect that from both males and females

It wouod depend a lot on tank size since both ottos and cories are bottom dwellers. I have mine in a 75 gallon tank with cories and glowlight tetras.
