THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR YOUR COMMENTS------i wanted to know if all algae build up is safe for fish. i have enough build up for a pleco but the algae is 2 different colors {brown&green} is this normal? as i have never seen it {the brown color} before in past tanks that i've had?

The pleco will probably eat both kinds. and I would think all algaes are safe for your fish. To find out which kind of algae you have go here   and check out their algae forum.

The guy I rescued my fish from had a HUGE algae problem in his tank.

He cured it by getting the Stonesuckers and Amano Shrimps - they pretty much cleared his 50 gallon tank in 3 days

The only problem with the Amanos is that they like to eat your plants when the algae runs low!
They'll also eat any flake food or veggies that they find on the bottom of the tank

As long as it nots covering the tank its ok. You dot have to leave any there for your pleco, just get some algae wafers
