Algae on filter? Mold on heater?

My tank has been cycled for a week now, running for over 2 months total.

Upgraded lights a couple weeks ago and started dosing with flourish excel yesterday.

Today I noticed the my filter his this greenish brown growth and some white fuzzy stuff on the suction cups on my heater.

Any idea what it could be? I tried to clean off the suction cups and now I have little white debris floating around the tank

Should I clean off the filter also or will the flourish excel eventually clear that up?

The algae on filter, if doesn't bother you don't have to take it of. I can't really see the mold on suction cups.

I remove mine from the tank for weekly maintenance and use a soft bristled toothbrush to wipe them clean in a bucket of clean dechlorinated water.

Generally you don't want to wipe algae off of tank ornaments/hardware while they're still in the tank. The algae will only resettle on another surface.
