Algae On Amazon Sword

Just put an Amazon sword in the tank 2 weeks ago. Been using CO2 boost every day and Sacheam flourish once a week. Also have a root tab near the sword. The sword looks great and has lots of leaves, besides the algae. Brown and green on the leaves so I’m not sure what you would call that. The light is on for 10ish hours a day. This problem just started and I do not want it to get out of hand if possible. Any advice?

3 weeks old. Cycled already. Kind of assumed there would be algae in a new tank because there isn’t stopping that but It all just went right for the sword.

Yeah I have a bit of this issue too on a newish (around 1.5 months old now) tank. Would love to hear suggestions too.

It is most likely diatoms..I just got done dealing with it too..you can get some snails to help you . just gently rub it offf the leaves do your water changes scrub your tank down at every water change. They say more light kills diatoms faster and it worked for . I now have no more brown algae. I do however have green algae but that doesn't bother me as much.

Yes. I have so many plants now that it's tougher to wipe down plants as I used to (when I had fewer). I have 3 nerite snails working 24/7 eating algae too. Hopefully it passes as my new tank acclimates.

It will ..just help it along by releasing what you can for the filter to suck up.

Maybe you could get lowering the photoperiod? Typically I only have my lights on for 7 hrs in my tanks. The nerites are amazing for eating all kinds of algae except filamentous. It will get better, but for now, try to manually remove the algae (and out of the tank if possible).
