I would remove any algae you can by hand and would only use chemicals as a last resort if it gets out of control. Regardless of what it might say on the bottle most aquarium chemicals have some form of side effect. Have you got live plants? If you keep the algae down by hand and encourage the plants to grow soon they will use the nutrients and the algae problem will subside
If you have algae on the glass get an algae eating fish or snail. There are a range to choose from and you should find one suitable for any tank size

I have to second not using AlgaeFixx. I read on here once that when using AlgaeFix there's a 50/50 chance it will kill off you fish. Sadly I read that after my betta had died after using AlgaeFix. Who knows, maybe it was a coincidence
