Hi. I have a ten gallon tank with a small mechanical filter. I have 6 neon tetras and 2 cherry shrimp, plus some micro sword. I also have an 18 watt fluorescent light. Problem is algae keeps growing on the light. Doesn’t come from anywhere, and never touches water until it dies. I checked, and my nitrate levels are fine. Nitrite a little high, but the test kit was nearly expired and it wasn’t lethal. The algae just grows up at the top, blocks light, and dies. Then it falls into the tank next to my micro sword. This wasn’t a problem, as my Chinese algae eater destroyed it. But now he’s dead, and the shrimp hate it. I just scooped some out, but what should I do in the future? I can’t adjust this light, so I gotta work with it for now. Thanks!
