Algae driving me nuts!

I’ve had my 55 gallon cycled for a few months now with only four small starter fish in it. I have a fluval 406 and an AC 75 HOB attached and have had a huge problem with brown algae. It seems like within a week of cleaning there is already more brown algae forming on suction cups, my PH, the glass and worst of all the white sand giving my entire tank a dirty look. It’s driving me nuts as I really thought that with a 406 and my HOB I wouldn’t have to be cleaning algae this frequently. It’s to the point where I’m considering replacing my white sand with black sand. I know algae is inevitable but does anyone have any suggestions to curb this problem and slow the growth so I’m not having new brown algae form every single week?

Otto catfish and nerite snails will help so much with the algae. A good filter doesn’t combat algae at all, algae comes when there is excess nutrients and light.

Reduce lighting and keep the sun off of it. It’s the best way to fight algae. I suffer from some algae too but don’t mind it helps with the fish.

Let it grow and get some aufwuchs eaters like hillstream loaches, garra, shrimp or nerite snails. Don't go for Otos if you don't want any delicate fish! They have a very bad rep for having high mortality rates while in need of larger schools. Just search the forum, I'll not eloborate further.

Keep your tank out of day light do 8hrs max on light and if you can dI'm the light do it, as I have mine dimmed besides my tank out of light and add some API stress Zyme as it helps your water.
