Albino Angels Question

Just wondering if those breeding albino find that they grow much slower than the regular angels?

I have 10 month old angels that I have raised from a clutch. I've kept a few and most of them have a body size of 2-3 inches (some of the ones I've sold are up to a 4 inch body now), however the 2 albinos have a body size of a quarter. Is this normal? Right now they are in a 55 gallon with three 4 month old angels so it's not like its cramped growing space or anything.

Do they need special care or is it just normal for them to be smaller?

It takes a lot of inbreeding to achieve a stable albino variety of any animal so it might be normal for them to be smaller.

Albinos will grow slower, however they should be about the size of the two inch ones if your other siblings to them where 4 inches when you sold them.

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear. The others that I sold are just reaching 4 inches now. I have several repeat customers as I sell live bearers as well as angels and some of my customers just send me updates randomly which is why I know how big some of them are now.

I should mention that the ones I sold were the biggest in the lot and had reached silver dollar size by 3.5 - 4 months.

The albinos just seem super small at the size of a quarter for 10 month olds. I was hoping to breed albinos but I don't want to do so if they aren't good genetically. These two aren't showing signs of pairing or sexual maturity which I expected but I did expect them to put on some size after I sold off the rest of their clutch 3 months ago. Maybe I'm just being impatient.

They normally are not mature enough until they are two inches in diameter, some angels are runts and don't grow large at all.
They grow slower as well as being harder to feed because they don't see as well.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I knew they weren't mature enough to breed yet. They do eat like pigs and are very aggressive with food when I feed them. It seems like I just need more patience.
