Okay, I'm going to change this thread to my tanks in general. Currently I only have two, but I might be able to get a thirty gallon sometime in the future! So from now on this is going to updates on not just the 45, but my 20 as well.

I guess I’ll just post a photo of the 20 now, please excuse the scape. When I moved my kuhlis to the 45 I had to pull up pretty much every single plant and decoration in order to catch them, and then I just kinda threw everything back in there because I had to put the rasboras in there. Currently what’s in here is 5 harlequin rasboras that are going through quarantine, a million shrimp, and Skön, my new betta that I got today. I’ll redo the scape once it’s done being used as a quarantine tank.

That’s the hope! It’s not too bad so I’m pretty sure that good clean water is all it’s gonna take to help it heal up

And here’s some pics of the 45. Everything is doing well and the kuhlis have adjusted nicely! Even though all they do is hide in the wood all day

image.jpg

Here’s a pic of the left side of the tank, behind the wood. This is a favored hang out spot for the shrimp and Grinch. He likes to scavenge the Kuhli’s sinking wafers

image.jpg

The rasboras are also doing well. They’re super active, and I can’t wait till the five I have in quarantine are in the 45, they’re gonna look so much better in a bigger school!

image.jpg

And then here’s Grinch himself. He’s fat and happy in the 45, active as ever though! It’s a little bit annoying whenever I want to take a photo of him though because he’s usually right under the light so his head is always over exposed Curse you Grinch, why can’t you just behave and sit still for a photo!!!

A little update, the Snails should be arriving tomorrow, if all goes according to plan. I'm super excited! I'm kinda hoping that the two Mystery Snails are male and female so I can breed them! Also the Sulawesis, I'm hoping those are also male and female.

They’re in!
Aquatic Arts sent me an extra blue mystery snail, which is awesome! Meet Windex, Shamwow, and Zep. Windex is the one out and about, shamwow is the ivory mystery snail, and Zep is the blue still in his shell. Fingers crossed I’ve got a male and female among the three of them!

image.jpg

Meet Carrot and Squash! Squash is the bigger one in back, and Carrot is the one up front! Here’s hoping I’ve got a male and female with these two as well!

Just got home, here’s some pics! Oh btw, Zep is the other blue mystery snail, he’s hiding in the back of the driftwood so I can’t get very good photos of him.

Grinch is just chilling in his usual spot

image.jpg

Shamwow has decided to bury himself, goofy snails

image.jpg

Carrot is enjoying himself under the crypt!

image.jpg

Squash and Windex have decided to have a snail meeting behind the driftwood, so cute!

K here’s some photos of the 20 gallon as, again, please excuse the scape, I know it looks like a mess.

A full view of the tank, the harlequins are doing good. They’re all super active and food responsive which is great!

Hey is this mating behavior, or are they just being snails? Sorry about the bad pick, I was rushing out the door this morning and noticed them doing this so just took a quick pic

Oh man, Skön just gave me a heart attack. I didn’t see him in the tank and I searched and searched and couldn’t find him anywhere. I started looking all over the floor around the tank with a flashlight to see if he had jumped, but still nothing. Then I came back up to look at the tank again and out he comes from inside a cave behind one of my java ferns for dinner. Gah! He stressed me out so bad for like two minutes

K another quick little update, I’m gonna get some red root floaters sometime soon in the future, I’m also going up to my lfs tomorrow to see if they’ve got any calcium blocks, plants I like, and I know I’m gonna get a clown pleco too and throw him/her into quarantine.

Just came out to check on the 45 and found these two having a rather private moment! I don’t know how long they’ve been at it, but they are for sure trying to mate. At least I know now for sure that I’ve got a male and female! I’m super excited because I like the idea of breeding something, and snails seem like a good place to start! I’ll be doing a water change tomorrow and I’ll leave the water level lower just so if Windex needs to lay within the next week, the amount of water will be appropriate for her! Fingers crossed the mate is successful!

Just got back from my lfs with a new addition! I’ve been floating him in my quarantine for about 20 minutes now so I’ll put him in soon and once he becomes more comfortable I’ll take some more photos. Name suggestions are welcome!

Okay, well I feel kinda like I’m on a ghost thread, but here’s the 45. I just did a water change so I apologize for the slightly cloudy water. The rasboras seem much more active which is good! Oh also the water level is low because I’m hoping Windex might lay sooner or later after her and Zep’s interesting night last friday. So my plans for this weekend is to move the harlequins from the quarantine system into the 45, they’ve been in for 2 weeks and are very active and healthy so I think they’re good to go. I’m also gonna go up to my lfs and get 5 more harlequins so I can move them into quarantine, maybe kuhlis as well if they have any, plus probably some more plants. Oh! I’ve decided I’m gonna go ahead and buy a Laetacara Curviceps I saw last week while getting my clown pleco, hopefully he’s still there! I’ve done my research and decided that he could work in the 45, so I’m gonna go for it! That’s all that’s been happening lately, I might post some photos tomorrow but for now it’s just this.

Okay, so the rasboras are through quarantine, and the school has been bumped up to 11 fish. The tank is already so much more appealing now! Grinch could care less about the new fish though, grumpy bugger!

image.jpg

On a side note, I went up to the Berkeley area for some personal matters and decided to visit a fish store just because I was in the area. Obviously this did not end well. I am now temperature acclimating 5 harlequin rasboras and a manacapuru angelfish in my 20 gallon quarantine unit. I have officially decided that I have no will power.

K so I just got home from the lfs, got a red flame sword to fill in the soot where the baby tears were. They were dying so I decided to go with something hardier, aka the sword.

image.jpg

I also got a species of dwarf acara! I’m not sure what species it is because of the fact my lfs has it labeled wrong, so any suggestions as to what it is are welcome! I’m super excited though cause I saw this guy last week and was worried he would be gone, but low and behold I’ve got him!

Thank you! He's really hard to get photos of since he only ever comes out of hiding at night, but I'll try to see if I can get some pics once I get home.

Yeah, Clowns are very shy, so it’s normal. I don’t see mine too often either. If it sees any outside movement in the room, it bursts off like Scooby-Doo. My favortie fish happens to be the least personable, lol.

Okay update, I’ve moved Spike and Tyrion to the 45 because of the fact that all my shrimp have been disappearing in my 20 gallon. Even though the 20 serves as a quarantine, it is also my shrimp breeding tank, so I have to decided to pull them from quarantine and take a chance with the 45. I know that this could end badly, but I trust the sources I got Spike and Tyrion from, so fingers crossed nothing bad will happen because of the move. Currently everything is fine, and they’re getting along with grinch just fine, but I’ll be closely monitoring their interactions and the condition of everyone in the tank to make sure nothing goes south.
