Aww, then I was wrong?? That would explain why she is soooo peaceful for her species, aside from still being a juvie. Fortunately "Mon Ami" is the same for both masculine and feminine in French and she won't have to be renamed Thanks for your input, are you certain that it is female?

;D I am nearly certain that it is a female. But if she is still a juvI then that could mean she is just a 'developing' male. Once the fins grow out properly you will be able to tell. Male's dorsal fin is very pointed.

Well, "She's" about 2.5-3 inches in length, and I had thought it to be a female at 1st but then I saw how long the fin was and read that males fins were long and pointy, but when it flares you can see the fin is pretty rounded. So, I think I'll agree with you, I don't really know anything about sexing fish. Is this old enough to determine the sex though, since she's basically half sized?

She looks mature to me. I usually go by age not size because some fish grow faster than others.

Thanks for the help! We're already calling her a She I'm keen to agree with you. Glad it's a female for the milder temper. So far this thread has been viewed 67 times, let us see if someone else chimes in.
