Aggressive Tank Ideas!

Just curious about some ideas for a Freshwater aggressor tank. Can be any size, large or small, and have anthing from 1 fish to a ton. Are there any real mean suckers out there? Looking for some interesting ideas to research. I had one:

*20G long - (nothing too crazy) 2 bumblebee/amazon puffers & 1 peacock eel. I like eels and puffers, the fiance won't even talk about getting an eel though.

What have you guys tried, have, or want to try?

We were planning :
55gal:
6 kenyI (1m/5 f)
6 bumblebee cichlids(1m/5f)

Changed our minds though.
Also toyed with:
90gal:
1 oscar

I am in the midst of getting a 280 gallon tank put together. I will be transferring an Oscar, a BonsaI Kilin (or Balloon) Flowerhorn (now there is a mean sucker) and two blood parrot fish into it. I almost left out the Pleco. I am toying with the idea of putting in a couple more Blood Parrots in, but the Flowerhorn is so mean that I am afraid he would kill them. He is only tolerant of the tank pals he has now because they have been raised together. I have all sorts of ideas on how to move my fish around in the opened up tank, but that is another thread for another time. You want mean look into some Flowerhorns.

If You Have A Big Enough Tank I Would Go With One Of These Species:
Red Terror (Festae)
Jaguar Cichlid
Midas

All Of These Species Are Very Agressive But Need Quite Alot Of Space

Dovii. If you want a fish that wants to kill you, this is the one.

I think I'd rather keep a Great White Shark

I like the bucktooth tetras! how aggressive do they actually get? what are some other small mean little guys (under 6")? I would assume pea puffers would be the smallest, but their cuteness negates some mean points.

If you're after something under 6" that is aggressive then a breeding pair of convicts or even red jewels get pretty nasty.

Hey! I've recently started a community tank with my 1 male betta, 3 ADF's and 5 tetras, everything has been going perfectly fine, no fighting, nothing. Today, I woke up to my ADF's during amplexus (believe that's what it's called) and my female ADF has not laid eggs which I thought was strange but whatever, but tonight when I got home, the tank seems to be very hostile, betta chasing the tetras, frog nipping at the betta, all fighting for food (I feed them everyday so they shouldn't be hungry) I fed them all and put blood worms in the dish for the frogs and the frogs started fighting for the first time ever and I shut the lights off and they seem to have calmed, just seems so strange that they're acting so strange

HI there,
I would continue to monitor the tank for agression.

Since the frogs are starting to breed the aggression might be caused due to the frogs turning more aggressive because they are in breeding mode.
As I stated above please continue to monitor the tank and if there is major aggression feel free to let us know or separate the aggressor.
Best of Luck!

Thanks! I think it might be because my frog is possibly "pregnant" I know that's not really the right word but the two were mating this morning and now she's got a bloated belly, so I'm assuming that might be the cause, hopefully it calms down, since turning the light off and feeding it seems to have calmed quite a bit

Turning the lights off would help calm down The fish. As I stated above just monitor it for the upcoming days once the frog eggs hatch the aggression should go back to normal.

Can I ask how big this tank is?

Tank size and parameters are very key in figuring out the problem.

Keeping bettas with other animals is always a risk, as is keeping frogs with fish. This is one of the reasons it is not recommended. Knowing tank size and parameters would help but you may have to end up removing the fish or frogs.

Agreed. Keeping other living organism like frogs with Bettas is always unpredictable. Even though every fish has a different personality, the majority of male Bettas are territorial and will only tolerate tank mates in bigger sized tanks.

They've been doing perfectly well up until the two frogs mated which is why I'm confused, but I am saving up to buy a water tester kit, I don't have the money at the moment so I couldn't say what the water parameters are, sorry! I'll be getting a kit very soon

How big is the tank??

I've moved the frogs until she lays the eggs then will put them back in, the fish are doing perfectly fine now and everything is good, so I will monitor again when the frogs are back in

How big is the tank??

That is way to small. Tetras need a 10 gallon on their own, the betta needs about 2.5-5 gallons of tank space and the frogs would need around 3-5. I say get a test kit ASAP. I feel it's a bit crowded.

What size of a tank did you move the frogs to?
