Your profile indicates you have a 10G tank with a single ram. If this was the tank you added a male ram to, it is too small and she is not happy to have an unwelcomed intruder in her territory.
If the pair got along, but are just now fighting she may be guarding a spawn, especially if she is protecting one area in the tank. This is when all cichlids show their true nature and become the most aggressive.
Good luck with your rams.

I had the same problem when I introduced a male ram with my female in a 10 gallon. I knew it was a risk before I ever added the male, but I wanted to see if it would work. It didn't. I returned the male to the pet store for a full refund and my female has been very happy since. Currently have 1 GBR, 5 Cardinals, and an Otocinclus in my planted 10 gallon tank. Pushing the limits? Yes, but so far so good.
The key to maxing out any particular setup is to recognize when something isn't working and back off.

but they will pair off when they want to spawn right?

Not necessarily. They need to be in a larger tank for that. 10G is too small for 2 rams.
