What should i be doing if my fish died of ich disease. (Tank preperations) Should i be drying out my tank and filter?

You can simply let it sit without fish for a few weeks and the ich that's left will starve. Alternatively if you can heat all areas of the tank to over 86
Degrees they should die within a few days.

Is it possible for the ich to live of certain plants?

I would not add plants from this tank to another aquarium without letting all the ich all starve or die from heat exposure. They can survive in very small amounts of water. The plants dont get infected with ich, but they can transport ich from it being in the water surrounding the plant.
