African Dwarf Frog & feeding

HI Everyone,
Well, My son finally got his African Dwarf Frog a few days ago.... I was looking for info on how often to feed him, esp. since when I asked the LFS, how much to feed my Ghost Shrimp & she told me 4 shrimp pellets per day (WAY too much) I want to make sure I am feeding the frog right... she told me "a little every 3 days".... 3 days? is this right... & how much is a little? I know you are supposed to see how much they can eat in only a few minuets, however, yesterday about half of the fish wanted to sample the new food... all hey had was the cubes, so that's what I had to get... Anyone have any suggestions on how much I should use, how often & what time to feed him, like should I do it @ night, so the fish don't eat the blood worms?

Thanks Allot for any help

You might want to get a pippete or something in which you can target feed them. They are basically blind and are not aggressive eaters. I would try target feeding them sometime during the day perferably during or after you just fed your fish and see if they will eat then. I would feed everyday.

A friend of mine feeds his one shrimp pellet each night. If you target feen him on the bottom and sprinkle something on the surface for the other fish he should get enough to eat.

I have 2 ADFs (but nothing else) in our 10G tank. Our frogs LOVE the bloodworms, especially the frozen ones. I even bought a worm feeder cone, but I have yet to see them eat out of it, but it works great at getting their noses working and sniffing for food. I simply defrost a small amount and then use a toothpick to drop a few in the tank. And yes, I have been told too to feed every 2-3 days.
One of my favorite sites for ADFs is:
I'm told that fish and frogs love the bloodworms, so maybe put enough in the tank for all to share. Our frogs also love fish flakes.

Good luck!

I don't think every other day would be awful depending on how much you are feeding them. You wouldn't want to feed them to the point that there is a lot of food left at the bottom of your tank or that their bellies are super bloated every other day. And think of it like nature, real animals don't get full meals every day and fasting is good for them. You want to see their bellies full not bloated.
You'll find what works for you and your frogs. Give it time and trial and error.

Good Luck!
