Hey everyone, just curious how this list would work out for a 70 gallon flatback hexagon tank.
Option 1:
1 Labeotropheus
3 Pseudotropheus Acei
3 Melanochromis Auratus
7 or 8 Pseudotropheus lombardoi Kenyi (I like them a lot. ;D)
1 Melanochromis Johanni

Is this to overstocked or would I be able to add more?
Also would these fish prefer sand as a substrate?

My friend has a tank with kind of identical stocking in a 60 gallon but I'd prefer to have some swimming space for these guys and not to many aggression issues so I'm not adding my tanks fullest potential unless some of you more experienced cichlid peoples come in.

welcome to fishlore oscar. I would use sand as a substrate, as far as your stocking list, you dont want 2 varietys of pseudotrophes, they can interbreed. I would take a look at the chichlid forum, they have great cookie cutters that will set you right up. Here is the link.

Also the other thing i would worry about is the hexagon tank how long is it. Mbuna need lots of rockwork, and places to hide, as well as plenty of room to swim.
