Advice on propagating two plants

I need to trim and propigate a couple plants in different tanks that are overgrown.
Both tanks have gravel substrate and stems of plants typically uproot in my tanks. Advice to avoid this is also appreciated.
I have to trim the cabomba caroliniana in my 10 gallon with basic cheap aquarium gravel. Should I just trim a certain amount and bunch together a few stems and plant or is there a better way?
Same questions about mayaca sellowiniana which is in my 29 gallon. I have one large bunch of 10ish stems of mayaca growing. I have a few trimmings that have been floating for several weeks in the hopes of new roots forming but I also noticed there’s small new stems branching off of my original bunch In places, some near the roots some higher up. What am I best off doing with the overgrown mayaca?

For both plants propagation is as easy as cutting and re-planting. I also believe that mayaca will grow just fine floating as well if you wanted to leave the trimmings floating.
As far as what to do with it? I suppose you could just keep trimming and replanting.

I found that to prevent uprooting just need to add a lot more substrate
