Advice On A Shrimp Breeding Tank.

Hey everyone,

So I have a 5.5gal tank I would like to breed shrimp in. I have been having a bit of trouble though. The shrimp keep dying out of nowhere. Some survive for quite a while(3 months and going), while some die off quickly. There are also 5 cardinal tetra in this tank. Currently 2 cherry's and 3 blue shrimp. I used a sponge filter from another tank to cycle. The cardinal tetras are doing great. The shrimp seem very active as well, though I keep finding 1 dead every so often.

Parameters:
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
Less than 10 nitrate
7.6 ph
Approx 80° F

Any ideas on why I keep losing shrimp?
Ph? Temp? Evil tetras? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

You have numerous problems with this tank.
1. Tetras could be eating them
2. Tetras need at least a 20G tank
3. Even if the shrimp breed, they will turn out to be a wild muddy Brown color.

Gh is near 200. Kh is 120. Tap water.

Pulling out body now. They are all whole.

I'm not too worried about coloring. Mostly to be used a feeders, but keeping a few here and there.

As far as tank size I didn't think these little guys would take that much room.

I do a 10-20% WC weekly depending on nitrate level.

I have quite a few more tanks all going strong. This one is the only one giving me trouble.
