Advice for moving a fish tank?

I was curious if anyone had advice for safely transporting a tank. I will be moving from house to house so it's not going to be as easy as moving it from one room to another. It's a 20 gallon, and I want to provide my fish with the most comfortable move possible. Thanks

How far are you moving? Is it a bit of a drive?

It will probably be a 10-15 minute drive, not too far. Maybe less than that.

Ok. How many fish do you have, what kind, and how large? Do you have plants?

Hmm. Never kept some of those.
For the fish you can either divide them in to 2 large buckets with water and an airstone or bag them (in fish bags, from the pet store or ebay) and put the bags in a cooler.
For the tank decor, you can just put it in a plastic bin.
For the filter, take out the filter media and put it in a fish bag or a double bagged gallon Ziploc with some tank water and air. Then put the filter and any other equipment ie. Airstone, heater, UV sterilizer...
For the tank itself, empty most of the water, and you can leave the substrate in. Make sure it is in a stable place in the car where it won't fall or get bumped, you can place towls around it to help.I
Also, if you bag the fish, make sure they have 2/3 air in the bags.

Drain water into 10 or so milk jugs and put 3gal in two 5 gal buckets divide up fish in the buckets and put lids on them or saran wrap them ,drain the remaining water , when you get the tank moved fill it with the jug water and fish and other 2 buckets of water and top off with fresh treated tap water , watch temperature , this would be just like doing a water change
