Adjust Temperature?

Hi, I have a heater in my 5 gallon fish tank and it has a light on it that goes green if the water is at optimal temperature and goes red if it's too cold. I'm wondering, are all heaters adjustable for the temperature? I don't know what brand mine is (I got it a long time ago and it doesn't say on the heater) and I want to know if it's adjustable in case my betta ever gets Ich or any other type of disease that requires the water to be warmer. Does it sound like mine would be adjustable based off of the information I've given? Thanks!

If it does not have a dial of some sort then it is not adjustable. Many cheaper heaters are preset and in my own experience a lot of ones made for smaller tanks are as well. You can definitely find ones that are adjustable for a 5 gallon but it may take a bit of searching and might be a bit more expensive. You'll probably be looking for a 50w heater. Make sure you have a thermometer you can easily read.

If it is a preset heater, 78 degrees is usually what they are set for. Least all the ones i have seen are, anyway.

is it this one? fluval heaters tuen red if there is not enought flow. with out flow, the heat just rises and gives the built in thermometer a hard time, and it turns on and off and on and off. the fluval heaters are smart though, and tell you when they need help.
fluval-e-series-heaters.jpgyou can set them at an angle so the rising heat wont trip out the thermometer.

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it! Hmmm I guess I'll be on the hunt for a 5 gallon/50w heater then since it doesn't look like mine is adjustable!

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it! Really interesting information. I actually have a different one that looks more like the Tetra 50w heater (except I don't think that I have that one, but they look similar).
