Hi! I noticed the past two days my African Dwarf Frog's stomach looking a little bloated but thought it was just overfed, but now its stomach is so bloated it is laying on its belly with its legs lifted from the ground. Is there anything I can do to help it. Dropsy is full body right? Only her stomach seems bloated. Thanks in advance!

HI Hannah
I'm sorry your frog is worrying you. How is she today?
More information might help. What are the readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
Is she still with the betta?
What are you feeding her?

HI thanks for the help again! She is still in with the betta and I don't have an ammonia reading (only have those little strips at the moment) but the nitrate and nitrite are both 0. I normally feed her a few freeze dried bloodworms (I know they can cause bloating, but I do soak them for 15-20 min before I feeding her) every other day about. However I haven't fed her in 3 days due to the bloat. This is a picture of what she looks like

I'm no expert by far but when my female froggy was sick she became very bloated so I did Epsom Salt baths once a day here are the directions I used I found them on this site. I hope your froggy feels better. The froggy experts please chime in I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do but it seemed to help for me

Thanks for the input. I read something else about epsom salts and also feeding them a bit of cooked pea. If anyone else has tried these id be curious to know how they worked.

My frogs never were intrested in the pea my frog was very sick I almost lost her but for me that helped with the bloating part!! With them having poor eyesight the tend to go for the moving food or smelling the food not sure about peas

I did the full hour each day because she acted ok I only had to do 2 baths and hers went down. The females tend to get chubby when they are ready to lay eggs but IMO that looks more like bloat I've seen my female both ways and that to me looks like she is bloated. I would try to get the frozen bloodworms I've read they digest those much better!!

Yeah if she gets through this I'll switch to frozen bloodworms. And I don't think she could be pregnant, I'm not sure what there gestation is but she hasn't seen a male in like 5 months. But she seems a little more floaty than normal so I'm going with bloat.

Yes that was my first thought too. I'm pretty sure she can still fill with eggs even without a male she just doesn't lay them but that's still bigger then I seen my female so I'm with you on the bloat!!!! Please keep updating on how she does!!!!

I took her out of the salt bath and she maybe looks a little less bloated. Did you see a major difference with your first bath? I also I went a little light on the salt because I didn't want to over do it. I'll try again tomorrow I suppose with full on dose and more accurately measured water.

Mine wasn't as bloated as yours so I only needed 2 baths but it says do as many as you need if you said it's starting to work and she is tolerating it keep going I did the full dose. Also I took day by day pics because sometimes it's hard to tell!!!

Slightly better I think. She is still very bloated but she is acting more normal today moving around the tank more and isn't at the very top of the decorations with her nose sticking out to breath like yesterday. I fed her a bit of pea last night and gave her another bath this morning. She has some stuff coming off her but I'm nearly positive she is just molting because it is coming of in sheets and she is darker today. We shall see how she does, I'll keep you updated thanks for all your help! Here's a picture:

Unfortunately, she passed away earlier today. Her condition deteriorated drastically the last 2 days Thanks for all your help though, sadly it seems when they start bloating it's already too late.
