Adf Salmonella Safety

mileshasabrowndogenm

Hello! I know African dwarf frogs can carry diseases and salmonella, but how carful do I have to be? I’ve never touched mine, but I touch the water all the time when I’m feeding and scaping. Water always seems to get EVERYWHERE and I get anxious about wiping everything down n stuff. Should I be worried about cleaning everything? Not reusing towels that got water on them, wiping my stand down with Clorox wipes, and stuff like that, is it necessary?

Yeah, salmonella is nasty. I would probably put gloves on when doing stuff inside the tank, myself. And wash with HOT water and soap afterwards.

It's not a very large risk, as long as you're cautious. Wash your hands after maintenance, and you shouldn't have to worry. I've been keeping reptiles and amphibians, including ADFs, for nearly my whole life, and haven't ever had Salmonella.
