ADF not moving around tank much

So I have a 10 gallon with just 3 adfs. Theyve been in for a week now and theyre finally starting to move some, but they just stay along the left pane where there is a piece of driftwood, a rock and a fake plant. I haven't seen any of them even go to the middle of the tank. Is this normal? are they still not confident in their environment? thanks!

Mine always had their favorite spots.
Most likely nothing to worry about.

Somethings you might want to check:

Is the filter current too strong at one end of the tank?
How about heat distribution, is it even?
Are there places to hide on both sides of the tank?

Edit:
One more thing I thought of.
Do you feed them on that side of the tank?

 

Pics tomorrow. The filter is on the other side so that could b. Heat is even. I do feed them on the left bc theyre always over there. And there are terra cotta pots on the right, but no plants yet

 

Could be the filter current but it also could be that they are fairly new to the tank

Is that the water flow I see on the right side?
My guess (and that's what it is ) is that they don't like that heavy current the filter is creating.

 

you could make a filter baffel out of a plastic bottle, I have one on my adf tank. they are really easy to make and work wonders for strong currents

 

lucy-yep that is. I have the level of water lower so they can't jump out, so I bet you're right.

well, all you need is a plastic bottle that has the middle section that is some what straight, ive found that the bottle with wrinkles in them to be a little harder to work with. ( I personally use Brisk bottles) but take some scissors and cut the middle part of the bottle off to where the top part and bottom part are off... then just cut a line through the middle part where you can pull it apart, and then stretch it over your filter output

well, I made the cup filter stop and it does seem to be working well so thank you! However, it keeps tapping against the back of the glass and I was wondering if this was normal for you, and if that is bad for the frogs?

 

what is it that's tapping the back of the glass? if its the baffle that's tapping the glass, then the only thing I can think of is maybe you could use a bigger, more round bottle, but no, I do not think it would be bad for the frogs. On mine, I have it to where the water hits the bottle and then runs down the back of the glass and very little comes out off of the sides

 

yeah it's that. And most of mine is running out the side right now. Maybe I'll try it in diff positions and see what happens.

 

even if most comes out of the sides, or even if all the water comes out the sides, its still doing its job of slowing the current down. I also have some panty hose nylon over my intake, and I can tell that, that has slowed down my filter as well

 

ok, I did some manuvering and the clicking is gone lol and the current is even less now so that's definitely good. However, the frogs still are just hiding around the log so idk what they don't like now!

 

Maybe it's not what they don't like, but what they DO like.

ok, so now I'm very confused by these frogs. I feed them every night but I never see them eat, but they aren't losing weight I'm pretty sure, but every morning it seems like there's still all their food laying on the bottom where it fell! Are they eating after I go to sleep do you think? Are ADFs weird eaters?

 

I know they can take a while to get used to their surroundings. what are you feeding? mine refuse and still to this day, haven't touched the pellets... just frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, and the occasional live worm

 

i'm feeding pellets. right now I can't get frozen bw. How long can they go w/out eating? bc i've had them over a week and they haven't lost weight so I assume their eating?

Are you counting the number of pellets you put in?

 

Not exactly but usually 8-10. But I haven't counted how many are left so I should do that!
