Adding Water Conditioner While Cycling

I am in middle of cycling process in my new tank.

I have only tap water in my home. I bought a fish tank couple of weeks back and started cycling process. I added water conditioner when I started cycling. I tested the ammonia level and it indicates 3ppm. So I am going to do a 20% water change today. Shall I add water conditioner after this water change?.. Will it affect my cycling process?

You should always condition new water with dechlorinater like prime if you're on municipal water.

It will not affect your cycle.

Adding a 5x dose of prime will detoxify the ammonia/nitrites for 48 hours so your fish are safe but the bacteria can still utilize it in this state.

I test twice a day while cycling to catch any spikes and 5x dose prime if there is a one.

Thank you. I have one doubt too. I am doing a fishless cycle now. I setup the tank with air pump, filter, gravels , plants and started the cycling process. But not setup any heater or light in the tank.

Heater and lights are essential for cycling process?. Shall I fit it when I am about to add fish in the tank after cycling completes?

I can't speak to the heater but you absolutely need a light for your plants if they are live plants. They will also help with the cycle.

That being said the lights are a must and I would highly recommend the heater because the plants are supposed to be used to the tropical temps as well.

Heat and lights are not important. Oxygen is important. In fact UV light can slow the growth of bacteria. Unless your water is extremely cold it will be fine.

From my own experience and research keeping the rabk at about 78f will help out with the cycle. Just my two cents worth

Warmer water certainly provides an optimal environment for bacteria but as long as it's not near or lower than refrigeration temperature it's not a dire need.
