Aslong as i have zero ammonia and zero nitrite and my nitrate is currently around 20, can i add more fish. 3 days ago i added 3 black skirt tetras, my nitrite went to about .25 and 2 days later it’s back down to 0. should i wait a couple of more days or can i pick up more fish because me parameters leveled back out???

it’s cycled, been up and running for about 7-8 weeks now. but prior to adding those 3 tetras i only had 2 mollies, so i basically doubled the load. but aslong as my parameters are all good is it safe to add more? or should i wait about a week?

i wanted to purchase another 3 black skirt tetras so it would be 6 of them for a school

Since the tank adjusted so quickly after adding three fish I don't see any reason you can't go ahead and add three more. Theoretically the existing bacteria colony is larger and stronger now than it was before you added the last three (since it's now handling the bioload of five fish instead of just two).

Agree. To be extra safe you could add 2 more and likely not get the small spike at all, or double stock level again and maybe get the minor blip of a spike.

Just takes 15-20 hours for the colony to multiply, so even if it's not quite there, it will recover for the shortage in a day.
