Adding Another Filter? (AquaClear 20 or 30)

HI all. I want to add another filter to my 20 gallon tank, just for added filtration. I currently have a Marineland Penguin Biowheel 150 in there. I would like to add an AquaClear. I don't know which one to add though. Should I add the AC20 or AC30. One is for tanks 5g-20, while the other is for 10g-30g.

 

Can I ask why you're adding another filter, because I'm not sure what you mean by filtration. Do you mean biofiltration? If so I'm not sure another HOB filter is what you need. I'd actually say it's more effective, not to mention cost-effective, to go with a sponge filter if your only aI'm is to get more surface area for biofiltration. Now, if your tank is dirty and you're trying to clean it up, maybe another HOB with more mechanical filtration is exactly what you need.

Similar thought here. If you think your current filter is doing no good, instead of getting a similar stuff, try flural filter. Quality is over quantity.

 

I'm just trying to have my tank cleaner. So I should just get an Aquaclear 20 and just fill it up with 2 sponges and carbon?

 

If you are keen to add another one, then aqualear 20 will do the job. Keep in mind 2 small filters are not cost effective as 1 big enough filter.

 

always do the biggest you can. I have an aquaclear. 70 on mine.
