I have a 45g planted tank that I set up almost 2 months ago. I used my Aqueon 10 from my established 10 gallon to seed my new tank, setting it up in conjunction with the Eheim 2026 canister I purchased for the 45g. Now that my tank is better established I am wondering whether I should keep using the Aqueon HOB. I think the tank could benefit from having more surface agitation, which I can get from the HOB. I can also fill it with Purigen, which would make it easier for me to check on/recharge the Purigen between major Eheim cleanings. My question comes down to whether or not the Aqueon 10 is sufficient for my needs based on the fact that primary filtration is being done by the 2026. Or should I consider purchasing the AquaClear 50 and stuffing it with Purigen?
Thanks in advance!
