Added Star Fish To Fowlr, Do I Need Supplaments?

I just added a beautiful chocolate chip sea star to my aquarium. I was looking at youtube videos on how to care, and one of the mentioned to add "trace supplaments." I don't know much about supplements; do I need to do this?

I do a weekly 17% water change.

I'm not sure why you'd need any trace supplements. Most fish get everything they need from what they eat, and a starfish isn't any different.

Speaking of eating, you know to feed it meaty foods, right? Chopped clams, chopped shrimp, etc... It'll eat a bit from your tank, but will need spot feedings.

at my LFS, I was given frozen brine shrimp.

What do you mean spot feedings?

Spot feedings just mean that you feed it specifically... like if you were to feed a fish with tweezers or something.

Frozen mysis is fine, you'll just have to make sure that he gets his fair share. Thaw it out in a cup full of tank water, suck it up with a turkey baster, and squirt it out under his arm near his mouth. Larger foods might work a bit better, though. I'd imagine a chunky meaty food would be easier, just because you can lay it under his arm and he can take his time eating it.

thanks for the response
my LFS gave me frozen brine shrimp. Will this suffice? I cut one in half and used forceps so he could eat it. Am I doing this right? Suggestions?

Brine shrimp is like candy for fish and inverts. They love it, but it doesn't have much nutritional value. Personally I am a big fan of frozen LRS Reef Frenzy as it is a solid all-in-one food source with very little filler (great for fish, inverts and corals).

how big is your tank? Chocolate chip starfish get large, over a foot in size for those that survive that long.
