I was wondering if the large acrylic jewels like these are safe for aquarium use ??

I know acrylic is used in aquarium design but not sure if all acrylic is created equal ,

Thank you in advance for your help !

Acrylic is acrylic so I can't see a reason why these would be problematic.

I don't think acrylic ornaments would be a problem, but there are a few things I think you should consider
Purely for definition... Acrylic actually refers to a group of plastics with an acrylic acid base. There are different recipes.

1. How do you know they really are acrylic? You can buy "glass beads" in craft stores that are really plastic. Poor labeling is pretty common.
2. The ingredient that gives the acrylic colour may be an aquarium toxin (ie, metals/minerals)
3. Some acrylic ornaments aren't actually coloured, but have a thin colour coating which often chips off. Tip for checking if its just coated... when you tilt them in the light they usually give off a rainbow sheen instead of the flat colour. (I would really not put anything of this sort in an aquarium)

Despite all this... I would agree that acrylic in general is aquarium safe, and it's unlikely that they would cause a problem, but blindly assuming everything titled acrylic is aquarium safe would be a bad idea. A little common sense and making sure you're purchasing decent quality items would absolve most of the risk, and the ones pictured on your link do at least look fairly authentic. (As authentic as a pic can look )

You won't even need to, I can tell you right now that these are properly colored acrylic as they're transparent. If they were painted, they'd look nothing like a colored gemstone whatsoever. This stuff is used for all sorts of things in the human world with no ill effects that I'm aware of. The only thing I can think of is if there's any sort of chipping(they shouldn't easily chip), that could be harmful if a fish tried to eat the chips. But I don't think you'll have that sort of a problem. Acrylic is pretty hardy stuff.

I have some similar to those in my tank. I got them from the lfs. They shouldn't pose a problem from how they look. Sometimes I see my pleco sucking on them.
