Scarlet badis need pretty exact water parameters and are hard too feed. And as said before too small to be a centerpiece in a tank that size. Why do you want to keep the temp that low? You could probably do a pair of bolivian rams, your corys and a schooling fish.

I want the temp low because of the WCMM, but in the summer, it will be at least 75 in the tank

72-73. LMK if you think of any.
I'm thinking maybe a single Kribensis... 72 is right at the low end of temperature estimates for them though. I would ask someone with lots of experience with them to see if they have insight. A pair of Apistogramma could be cool too. But I'm just spitballing. Research would be mandatory first lol

Do you think I should add more filtration? I could add an HOB.
I think your filter is more than enough. What's the turnover rate?

Hahah then it would be just like my setup. Cories, bolivians, school of ember tetra, and a BN. A temp increase of just a couple degrees would give you sooo many more options.

Can you keep it at a consistent 75 in the winter too? I think you'll find that WCMM will do just fine there.

I don't really like kribs... maybe some Apistos...
Turnover is 206 GPH
How low can Bolivians go?

They're warmer than you can go with your WCMM. About 77.
I think you're going to have trouble finding something that can hang with the cooler water. The honey gourami might be your best bet!

Ok. Thanks! Maybe a pea puffer or group of peas?

Boliviams are fine in low temp, 73 would be ok

Aren't they also a real pain to feed?

How many bolivians in this stock?
X Bolivians
12 WCMM
10 Bronze Corys
1 BN

Are bolivians hard to feed/keep?

Does it matter what gender they are? Would 2 males or 1 m 1 f or 2 f be fine? Would a pair breed?

Bolivians are bottom dwellers correct? Would they get in the way/in fights with the corys?

not larger sized ones. mine are fine with my adult c.paleatus, but beat the poo out of one of my new ~1/2" baby panda cories the other day though.

SnookusFish can probably confirm or correct, but I've heard you're supposed to do a M/F bonded pair, or 1M/2F to avoid conflict. Then again, I have three males in my 30 living peacefully until I can swap two out for a new attempt at getting a pair....

Ok. Note that baby corys are a no go with them

Can someone provide me with a timeline for this stocking plan?
2 Bolivians (m/f)
12 WCMM (Already have 2)
10 Bronze Corys
1 BN
Thanks!

I would put corys first, then wait a week, add wccm, wait a week, add bn, wait at least 3 days, add Bolivians. If that's what you mean by timeline?

Yeah that's what I mean. May I ask, why corys first?

Just one of the bigger groups. You could really do it in whatever order you'd like

I would be a little more conservative than FishGirl115. No need to risk a mini cycle, as you aren't under the gun to fill a tank up. I'd do just about the same as her, but split the schools in halves. It'll just give your BB colony more time to catch up to the increased bioload.

Ok. I was going to get some bottled BB so that I could dose it just to make sure that the tank is fully cycled and doesn't crash when I add the fish although I do have the plants as a safety net.

Good call! But remember that the nature of the cycle is such that the BB colony never grows larger than can be sustained by the existing ammonia and nitrate levels - even when the tank is fully cycled, the BB will have catching up to do whenever you add new fish. The plants will probably help on that front though!

I figured the the plants would buffer until the BB could catch up.

You're probably right, but I'd hate to leave it all up to the plants! Too many variables for me

When I add new fish I just double the amount of water changes for 2 weeks and then I dont have to worry about anything.

Ok quick update. So I am getting this light for the tank as I want full spectrum lighting. I also ordered 36 stems of pearled off Ebay which included 1 portion of giant duckweed, crystalwort, and 2 mystery planta for free. All of this stuff should arrive this Friday. My plan is to do 4 hours a day of lighting until then to stop any algae from growing. Then, I will set up the new light and try to have the tank grow in and balance before I stock it with anything that could disturb the plants.

I'm cycled as I used cycled media when I got the filter and I have 2 WCMM in there now just to have a source of ammonia. Pics coming soon...

Just ignore the algae and the airline tubing lol

Ok, so the plants got here just a minute ago and I brought them in and unpacked them, but am unable to do anything else to them as I have a zoom meeting soon. I am going to leave them out and tend to them later. Sadly, many plants have duckweed on them which is going to be a pain in the butt to clean off, but I guess it's worth it. Will update later once they are in the tank.

Planted the pearlweed and added the floaters, now I just need it to grow. There was a bit of rouge duckweed, but it's whatever.

I love the day the plants come! Post pics when you have a chance.

In all honesty, I quite like duckweed. I do understand the complaints, but I've grown to enjoy essentially scooping nitrates out by the handfuls without even doing a water change. It is easy to keep alive, compared to other floaters that tend to be pretty fussy about flow and moisture on their leaves. The roots get long enough to look pretty, without making a mess or filling the tank top to bottom. I'm about ready to throw out all my water lettuce! I may try salvinia, or just add some duckweed from one of the other tanks.
