Accused of a crime I did not commit ;-)

I joined a planted aquarium forum to get some extra help with my LED light and after one post I was banned from the forum. I was accused of “spamming and link farming for fishlore”!! I don’t even know what that means. I didn’t post any links at all. Does anyone know what this means or why I was accused of that? I feel like I am living that black mirror episode where the person got canceled!

some of these forums are like that... if you even mention the name of another forum, or a certain company, or a certain product, you can get banned.

i've been a member of many gaming forums, car forums, firearms fourms, fishing forums, and computer building forums, and never had a problem. the gardening, home, and aquarium forums seem to be like HOA's.

I was not aware of this. However, I never even wrote the word fish lore in my post or linked anything anywhere! The only thing I can think of is that what I posted on that page was similar to the post I had on fish lore. I was still looking for more answers so I went over to a different forum to see if anybody there could be of assistance.

Hi Huckleberry, we won't discuss other forums or speculate what happened on that other forum to warrant a ban.
Your best bet would be to contact the admin and ask politely.

Edit:
Reading your second post.
You might want to google duplicate content. Apparently google frowns upon and it may have an adverse effect on websites.

Double edit:
Speculation: (even though I said no speculation :p)

If a member copies and pastes a thread they posted here to another forum, the auto links shown here would also show there and direct members back to FL should someone click on them.

So, yeah, that is spammy, unintentional perhaps and not FL's fault but still it can be viewed as spamming.

So, please peoples, don't do that or at least remove the hyperlink or reword your thread when posting elsewhere

Sounds like a simple copy/paste mistake on your part with the auto linked keywords, like nitrogen cycle, for example. If you just copied and pasted a post like this it may grab the link too.
