I am hopefully going to set up my 20 gallon and divide it for bettas in the near future. What is the best way to acclimate a cup betta? When I got Nelson, I just made sure the water in his cup and the tank were the same temperature. I then put a small amount of water from the tank into his cup and waited a short while, and repeated this a few times before putting him in the tank.

that sound good, as long as you don't go too fast. i think the rule is take out 1/2 cup of the water the new fish is in, and add it back of the water its going in, wait 15 minutes, and do it again, and just keep doing it until you think the water its in is all the water from the tank
