About Setting Up A Shrimp Tank

HI -

I'm planning to start a 5 gallon shrimp only tank in the near future.

I plan to cycle the tank, but I'm wondering, with such a small bioload, won't the tank lose the cycle?
I'll be starting with 10 shrimp (maybe fewer) in a 5 gallon.

Won't the tank be constantly cycling? How do you handle that?

The shrimp and decaying plant matter will create enough waste for the nitrifying bacteria to created and sustain a population. Compared to a tank with a lot of fish, the number of bacteria might seem small, but it will be enough to create a stable environment.

I have a 5 gallon shrimp only tank and its been running for over a year +. I feed my shrimp every other day and probably have at least 300-500 at any given time.
The tank stays cycled ( due to the feeding of the food ) and I do a 50% water change every 2 weeks. The key here is to make sure the tank is getting fed ( daily if you have a low amount of shrimp )
I feed shrimp pellets, raw zucchini. algae wafers and bloodworms once a week
