About Nocturnal Fish

I understand nocturnal animals in the wild. but in my home aquarium not so much.. like are they up with the time of day or do they only depend on when I turn the light switch to bright or moon light?

 

Nocturnal animals in the wild will be a bit different than the one she in your aquarium(unless you have wild caught fish).

In the wild, they will usually like in places that have overhanging trees and lots of hiding places.

In home aquariums, it is hard to simulate these conditions.

After being bred multiple times, naturally nocturnal animals will be most comfortable at night, but can do well in light as long as the light isn’t too bright.

my hours that I'm awake in my apartment are pretty random . so if they only function due tto the fact that I change the lights from bright to moon. I'm wondering if I'm causing any problems for them... Then again I am known to overthink things

 

I work overnights 11pm-7am. I have my fish light attached to an automatic timer. It turns my tank on at 9pm and turns it back off at 8 am.

Some people that work days have automatic timers on their tank lights as well. My fish adjusted just fine.
