HI all,

I’ve seen many people buy those cheap seeds that are commonly shipped from China. I wanted to share a few interesting threads that I found about them. Just know they aren’t what they’re labeled.

Seeds for Carpeting plants - Myth or Real?
It’s not the first time that i’ve seen someone have luck with growing these seeds, but more times then not, it’ll die on you.

Marsilea minuta?
This post shows someone grow it out and it turned out to resemble Hygrophila polysperma ‘Tiger’, which is the more uncommon species of hygrophila.

(Probaby not) Glossostigma from seed - impulse eBay buy.
In this link, the OP was fortunate to get it to flower while growing it emersed from the start, showing it is a species of Hygrophila, but not polysperma. It grew to be H. Corymbosa, possibly some sort of variant.

Now, they’re always labeled as HC cuba, Glosso, or DHG, but most likely it’ll grow into a Sp. of Hygro. There could be many things that can go into growing them to their potential, good substrate, good light, water column dosing etc.

(tagging -Mak- and Jocelyn Adelman, maybe this might interest you two?)

Nice thread, needed too as too many people are buying these thinking they're going to get an actual carpeting plants when in reality these will never be a true carpeting plant - they don't use runners.
Another good link is this particular post, but the entire thread is good:
Do You Even Iwagumi, Sil?
