if water is to hard can it kill a gold fish?

I have not heard of it but i'm sure that if it high enought it could cause a problem.
Goldfish live in a lot of diffrent types of water tho. I hope one of are goldie comes along soon to help you.

Welcome to Fishlore. how hard are we talking about? San Antonio has some of the hardest water in the country, and goldies can live in ours.

As long as the water is from like your tap or something I would not be worried about it. Like the others said they will be fine in hard water, unless it is super unusually high.

I was born in San Antonio! I bet their water explains my hard head ;D

Yeah fortunately I only lived there for like two months before moving to wonderful New Mexico, the Land of Entrapment (its so much better here :rolleyes!

lol well our nickname is "Land of Enchantment" but seeing how once you move here it seems like you can't leave, no matter how much you want to, so we call it "Land of Entrapment"! I know several people who agree with this
