Abnormal gills

So, I'm not sure if this is in the right spot, and if it's not, I'm sorry. So I bought two female guppy from a LFS and it wasn't until I got home and put the fish in quarantine that I noticed her tail. Weird. And I think it was the next day, maybe same day, I noticed that I could see into her gill. Like her gills were much bigger than normal, sticking out from her body. She's doing fine, just a little aggression is directed towards her from her friend on occasion. And her friend's grills are normal. I'm not sure if it's of any help, but I also bought some corys from the place and seem to have a bit of fin nipping/fin rot in a different tank. Anyways, any ideas on the cause of the enlarged gills?

I was wondering that. She was like that when I got her a week ago and hasn't improve. It should be because I added a piece of sponge from a cycled tank to the filter. No, I just did a PWC today and added some plants on Wensday..

I would recommend getting a water test kit when you can afford. Thinking and knowing are two totally different things.
Without knowing water perameters we cant rule out ammonia and nitrite burn / poisoning.

I have a test, but like I said, her gills were like that the day I got her.

She could have come from poor water quality. Or maybe gill flukes. But always water first.
What is your
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate?
