A true blue platy?

Hi,

I like my painted platys very much because they do NOT look like the fish I eat for dinner.

I recently got a rainbow platy and I didn't pay that much attention at the store. It looks like a fish I'd eat for dinner. Scales were visible, basically.

Go fish in the platy family come in true blue colors?

The bluest I've ever seen was a seafoam blue platy(lighter) and a coral blue platy(darker)

Your best bet for finding such a fish would be Aquabid in the domestic livebearer section.

I recently picked up one of these at my Petco. Both it and PetSmart just got some in. They really are beautiful.

Taiwwa, what do you mean about the fish looking like what you eat for dinner?

With a few exceptions (such as plecos), almost all fish have scales, some are just more visible than others. In fact, the only fish I can think of without scales are bottom feeders...

Also a lot of Saltwater are like this as they have very tiny scales.

I see. Well, like was mentioned above, bottomfeeders don't tend to have scales. You could also do invertebrates if the scales bother you. Otherwise, if you stick to smaller fish, you won't notice the scales as much?

As far as I know, the platy above is the only blue platy. Have you checked out the Red Wag Platy and the other colors of Mickey Mouse Platy? They have less obvious scales.

Painted platys aren't so visible in their scales. I have painted ones already.

side topic: the rainbow blue platy I got hasn't really altered the male's behavior. Is it because she looks different that he doesn't recognize her? He pretty much leaves her alone.

How long have they been together? Fish have to get to know each other too.
