A thank-you note to Fishlore

Yesterday I asked for help after all my cichlids perished due to my naivety, that is I added tap water directly to the new tank and added fish without a filter, many gave me good advice and I followed, installed a canister, added water stabilizer and nitrifying bacteria pill, tested PH and temperature... then added fish, they seem comfortable and happy, display no stress so far, no fish die.

Many thanks!

Keep testing. It will take three weeks to cycle the filter properly. Waterchanges when needed.

Also have some Seachem Prime while your testing and keep it dosed every 24-48 hours to help them through the process until its completed the cycle.

Yes, keep an eye on ammonia. You’re doing a fish in cycle. It will be a balance and you’ll need to be very attentive for the next 3-4 weeks.

Test the water frequently and do water changes (with your conditioner) often.
