A Strange Yet Pleasant Aquarium Smell

So hopefully this is a quick and easy question.... Has anyone ever experienced a sweet and spicy yet earthy smell coming from they're aquarium, it's pleasant but strange.... What could have caused this I have done a 30% water change yesterday and I can still smell it today. The only thing I can think of is that I put some new plants in there such as java fern anubias süßwassertang and some sprigs of moss all these plants came from a high-tech grower who is extremely knowledgeable. I would contact him and ask but I believe he's out of the country right now.

Lol yes I know the smell. It’s likely from either your plants, or some sort of nitrogen compounds.

Yep the more plants I add, the stronger it gets. More noticeable after I added sand as well.

Its a good way to keep track of your tank. If it doesn't smell good somethings wrong and the worse it smells the bigger the problem.

My tank is a combination of eco complete and various plants. Eco complete smells really strange fry, but in the water it smells amazing. Could be the plants.... or the poop....
