A road side find

Yesterday while I was driving some back country roads home from work I saw something catch the light. I kind of thought "hey that was a a fish tank", so I backed up and sure enough there in the ditch amongst the weeds was an aquarium sitting upright with sand still in it. As I am always looking for tanks I picked it up and right into my trunk it went. After I got it home I wiped it down and felt it over for cracks or any issues and then I put it in the garage and filled it up with water to see if it leaks.
So far its held water for about 24 hours with no issues! I plan on letting it sit for a few more days to be sure though. I think the tank is 20 gallons but I haven't done the measurements and math to be certain yet. Anyways, I just thought it was a really cool and odd thing to find along an out of the way road surrounded by nothing but fields.
Let me know what interesting and odd things you've found alongside the road, I think those things are so cool to hear about!!!

Are you definitely sure this tank wasn't dumped evidence of a crime commited ? woohahahhaha.

"Yes your honor this person had this tank in his/hers possession. Fingerprints of this person are everywhere"

Makes me think of two African sculptures I found in a forrest (stuck in ashes) while hiking. My first thought was : Voodoo or something.I didn't touch them and left them cause I thought it was soooooo weird.

On a hike my friend and I found a weird alter (?) alongside a dried up creek that was off the trail deep in the woods. It was an old table surrounded by stones up against a tree with a baby doll head in the center of the table with little stacked rocks in a pentagram (five points) around it. Obviously a weird prank in retrospect but man did it freak my friend and I out!
Odd things in the woods are probably infinitely more cool than odd things along the road!

I found a wild LLama out hiking in the Rockies by my house... that was pretty weird, usually it's just moose or something actually from North America.

I ran into a peacock taking a walk down a trail near my house last year. Turns out he's a "free range" peacock of sorts and belongs to the couple who had just opened up their duck farm/ creamery down the road from my house. I rather do not enjoy the sound peacocks make though when they scream or whatever it is they do- sounds like a child being murdered.

I'm still alive, for now . That natural wildlands preserve where the trail was is very creepy sometimes too, it can be like a maze and impossible to navigate with how poorly the trails are marked and how none of the trails truly match up with the trail maps all that well. The whole place has a very Blair witch feel sometimes which I enjoy- I like being a little creeped out though.
+Navigating those trails feels very frustrating after an hour of trying to leave and not finding the right trail - and I think that irritation is what leads to or further creates/ reinforces the creepy aspect for me.

The zoo near my house has several peacocks that roam around the zoo. One day i took the kids and went walking towards a shelter. A peacock was standing on the roof and yelled at me. Scared me right out of my sandals!

There were a few fisher cats around here a few years ago and their screams actually haunted my dreams- they scream at night and its extremely loud, it sounds like a kid screaming with abject terror. It is so much worse than a peacock. I used to wake up horrified and just curl up hoping it would stop.

Hopefully you don't encounter any fisher cats around your area!

The only useful things I've found on the side of the road have been tools. The best one was an 8-foot fiberglass step ladder, though many years ago my wife and sister found a set of 3/4" drive sockets, with break-over handle and extensions.

That 3/4" drive set was a pricey loss by someone!

At my local zoo, they let all the peacocks roam around. One time we went there, this male peacock would not stop following us. When we sat down at a picnic table and unpacked our lunch, he ran all around the table, stealing everyone's lunch.

**Update**
The tank is 30 gallons. Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do with a 30 gallon tank.

Well I never found a table or a fisher cat (I had to look it up I didn't even know what it was, and I read the Funk & Wagnall's Wildlife Encyclopedia from A-Z)....
I found a brand new Stetson hat on the side of the freeway once. My husband I were just tooling along on I-40 and suddenly I said "hat" and slammed on the brakes. He was really confused at first lol...

Wow! Lucky find. I once saw a post in our neighborhood classifieds that there was a 20 long out by curb. I drove by and it was still there. Took it home and it was full of fish supplies too. Great find!

Unfortunately this tank only had sand in it. Great find though, especially with supplies included in it!
