That's tough because I love Nintendo so much, but to get one of those other systems for that price? Hmmmmm. I guess I'd go with the PS3..take advantage of the price. I still want a WiI though. *sigh*

None of the other game systems match up head to head with the PS3... So if you don't match them up to make your choice, the only reason you will pick anything else is because you are a fan of the other system . Or you just do not like Sony.

I say PS3, though it depends on which one, is it the smaller capacity or larger capacity one? (I don't remember the exact numbers though I think it is 60 gigs and 40 gigs or 60mb and 40 mb ) I would also love a wii, but my brother has one so I can play that plus it would only be a fifty dollar discount while the PS3 is a 400 dollar discount.

I think that the sizes are 60 and 30 GB...

the PS3 is by far the supreme system and hey, compare it's current price to a blu-ray player at best buy. but it's like an iPhone - worth the money, at the edge but still a bit of money to drop at once.. so if they were all $250, i'd get a PS3 -- as soon as FFXIII comes out. (which is when I'll get a ps3 anyway). lol.. that or KH3.. but FFXIII is much more likely to come out first.

the wiI is an interesting concept, but I think I'll skip the workout every time I play a game.. just not entertaining to me. besides, nintendo started to lose me when they lost the final fantasy series to sony and lost me completely when mario sunshine blew chunks IMO.. all they have left for me is the Zelda games and one of those every 4 years isn't enough to buy a system.

why would someone buy a outdated system if they could get the most advanced for the same money? nintendo has some nice games, but lack the big guns and seem to be losing the spark in their own big names like Mario. Yet they do great in the handheld arena, i'm just not interested in their wiI wiI system and doing the pee pee dance. :;jk

I got a chance to play on a wiI for the first time today. Maybe I just need more time to get used to the controls, but I found it more frustrating than anything else. Therefore I voted 360.

aren't the xbox360's plagued with heat problems, drive problems and other failures making them prone to a state of deadness that identifies them as made by microsoft (the gaming equivalent blue screen of death)? i've heard about massive recalls and problems with the hitachI drives and talked to eb games employees who told me they get about 1/2 of the systems returned, many with the power cord fused to the unit from overheating.

If you are a fan of XBOX, you for sure hate the PS3... LOL... But Dave is right... The 360 is known to give a lot of problems, especially overheating... My friends power cord did the same thing! Not good for Microsoft!!!

RE4 is AWESOME!! Way different than any other RE game, but still a lot of fun. You haven't beat it?!? I beat it SO many times!! Including a few times with NO GUNS- just the knife and hand grenades! (Mostly the knife) Never under-estimate the power of knives!!!

I voted WiI because I know the awesomeness that is Wii. If you have doubts about Wii, then you have not had enough time with one. The industry has you fooled into thinking power is everything. Who cares about power if the games only look better. If they don't play better where have we gone. I think you'd be suprised how many Wiis would still sell. The WiI really strikes a chord with the nongamer. XBox and PS kind of scare them away.

Anyway I just had to get that out of the way. If they all cost $250, I'd actually buy them all. I like each for their own individual reasons. I will at some point have all 3. Till then I'm going bowling.

The DS lite is the best game system anyway.

I guess being a gamer, maybe that's why wiI doesn't appeal to me.. really it's the whole workout to play a video game thing. to me, it's kind of like a workout couch to sit in while watching a football game. And I think the games do get better with the higher technology. My favorite games, Final Fantasy & Kingdom Hearts, get better & better and I can only wish the ps3 is $250 by the end of next year when/if FFXIII comes out.

I've pretty much given up on RE4. I seem to always need ammo and can never find any. With that said, I have a ton of money, but can never find the merchant guy. Its starting to make me made. I may just have to have you tell me how it ends.

With that said, I hope RE5 will go back to the way it was from RE1-Code Veronica!!! I hope it has Chris, dude is my fav, he's a G!!!!

Not all of the games are a workout. Just WiI Sports. Super Paper Mario is Awesome. It takes me back to the real Mario games. The controller is such an ingrained object (i.e. TV remotes) that it is really easy to just start using. A lot of my friends were intimidated by the Wiimote. After trying it they realized they just automatically got how to use it. Point and shoot is FAR superior to the analog crosshair controls. It's nice that PS3 has the 6 axis, but the Wiimote is so much more. Its like a controller, light gun, and mouse all at the same time. I don't think developers expected to see the WiI have so much success, so the "True Gamer" titles weren't there. These companies are now seeing their mistakes, so you'll start to see a lot more Games for "gamers". I have been playing video games since the beginning. I own an AtarI 2600, 2 NES', Genesis, SNES, AtarI Jaguar, Sega Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, 2 PS2s, GB Advance, GB Advance SP, DS, DS lite, and a Wii. My Sega CD died, my Turbo graphix died, my 32X was stolen with one of my Genesis', Game Gear stolen, even had an AtarI Lynx for awhile. I think I can safely say I'm a gamer, and I love my Wii, and love saying I love my Wii.... ;D As for higher technology, absolutely, but graphics are not the only "higher technology". I'm not saying innovation is no big deal. I'm saying the focus on pretty pictures is killing the industry. (Not saying all pretty games are bad). It's like a bad book with great art. Think of it this way, the Wiimote is "higher technology". I salute Nintendo for trying something new. It was about time to see some innovation out side of graphical obsession.
LOL Anyway, like I said, if they were all $250 I would buy them all. PS3 stomps the others in graphics and the Bluray, XBox Live is FAR superior to anything else, and the WiI is perfect for just plain fun. So, if I had the cash I would buy all of them at actual price.

They are stopping the lower end model in the US, just selling what they have and I believe they are dropping the top model down 100$, that's for the ps3. They seem to be having a problem selling it to non-gamers because of the price. Best thing xbox has is Halo and like you guys said xbox live. My preference would be the wii. It has better games for playing with friends like Mario party 8, that's a great game and super mario strikers is coming out soon along with super smash brothers. Those are probably the best games they have. PS3 has good single player games and shooting games but my choice would be wii.

I picked the Wii. Why? I forget who, and I lost the quote, but someone from Nintendo said it best. They make games that are FUN. No focus on incredible gore, shock value, or making it overly realistic.

Cheers to that atmmachine.

PS3 dropped it's price to $500, and I have also heard they are dumbing down the PS3. They are removing the "Emotion Engine" will make them not backwards compatible without software, and will eliminate the most hyped peice of the PS3. Too Bad. PS3 is actually just ahead of its time.

Mario that's one reason why I like it, good games that are fun for everybody to play.

That's the problem, people aren't ready to pay for that yet, or at least not enough to get a lot of profit.

These are some numbers I have heard. Microsoft has projected repair costs for 360s to hit 1 Billion dollars. There are 10 million +/- XBox 360s sold. The repair cost to repair each of the 10 million 360s would cost Microsoft.....wait for it.......1 billion dollars. That says to me that Microsoft expects to repair every single 360. I got these numbers from my favorite podcast, CAGCast, from CheapAssGamer.com The over heating power fire problem was with the power supply. They have changed power supplies.
They also mention on CAG that they number of daily repair returns in Europe is One Thousand Five Hundred.1500!!!!!!

LOL on the Xbox360 - microsoft at it's best. it really is Xbox XP.

As far as the ps3 goes - it's worth the price. a blu-ray player alone can set you back the same amount.. and I don't think those are selling super-fast either. The reason I don't have a PS3 would stay the same if it were $250.. just waiting for at least 1 game on it worth the price of a game.. none of the new systems have a game yet i'd consider a must-have, so i'm happy with my PS2 for now. It really isn't about the best graphics & power, it's about the games and I'll have more fun with my PS2 games than any game on the new systems yet.

If Mario Galaxy isn't a huge disappointment like Mario Sunshine and playing it doesn't require the workout that Nintendo is pushing so heavy in their wiI commercials.. maybe a wiI will come home with me.. but i'm waiting to see if there's anything else good coming out on wii, especially from Square/Enix.

Waiting is by far the most intelligent thing to do in the video game decision. I just can't help myself lol. I hear ya on the cost of games BettaCouple. WiI games are $10 less on average lol I have been flip flopping on the 360 and PS3. I want to play Oblivion.....PS3 will probably last longer than 360 ok getting a PS3........wait Mass Effect looks REALLY cool........getting a 360..........oh wait....lol So I am forcing myself to wait it out. I kinda feel like I'll be losing out if they do pull the Emotion Engine on PS3. Originally the Emotion Engine was gonna drive the PS3 sales, then Bluray came into the picture.

Here are some other interesting facts I've heard about the gaming world.
$4.7 Trillion.........Sony's net worth, including all Sony products. (i.e. My computer, my camera, my phone, my other camera, my
TV anyway you get the picture)

$4.3 Trillion.........Nintendo's net worth including Game systems, video games, and the card game they started over 100 years
ago. That's it.

Pokemon is the Number 1 system seller. DS lite has some 40 million units. 31 million more than Wii's. 30 million more than 360, and I don't even know how many more than PS3. They haven't sold a whole lot of those.

What kind of games do you play BettaCouple. Let me guess FF and such. FF7 is the best one. FF7 introduced me to RPGs. I always passed them up for platformers. FF7 change my mind.

I always loved the Super Mario games, until sunshine.. and Zelda games.. (I still need to pick up Twilight Princess sometime).. but my fav. games are the RPGs, especially Square's.. the final fantasy and kingdom hearts series are by far my fav. games and I can be happy playing ffxiI until ffxiiI comes out (although the ps2 has dust on it with how often i've played it lately. just haven't had time to play it much the past few months unfortunately.)

i've thought about a DS and might get one.. there are a lot of games i'd like on that system.. i'd rather get a DS than a WiI actually. the new super mario bros. looks great and the zelda game coming out.. and I think square/enix has a new game or 2 in the works in addition to the classic FF games they've been porting to the gameboy.

you bring up a good point that I forgot to mention.. as much fun as it is to be the 1st on the block with a new toy.. the bugginess of systems when they first come out gives me reason to wait for at least the 2nd generation of a console to hit production.

Do you not like those types of games flbc? Those are some of the good games on wiI that aren't shooting and like ff7. Not sure on the workout, I've played the wiI and not all the games are that big of a workout, besides sports.

I like the way you think atmmachine. Both would solve the problem.......can I borrow $1000....lol.....I have fish to feed....lol

The RPG market in general has been lacking fairly bad lately all together BettaCouple. The last one (besides Pokemon lol) I tried to play was FFX. I just could not get into it. My friend kept telling me it was the best story ever so I tried but, I got tired of Blitzball and the game seemed really linear to me. I miss the Cloud days. Ragnarok oh yeah Ragnarok. Best airship ever. Ruby and Emerald Weapon.........ouch. One of my fondest memories was when I defeated Jumbo Cactaur with Cloud by himself, and no items to really speak of. My roomate and I were playing on one save. It was his turn and he decided to investigate this cactus sticking up. Then he realized he was late for work, handed me the controller and told me to fill him in later as he bolted out the door. It was the most epic fight I have ever been through in a game because I had so little to work with. Thank god for Cure materia. lol

I was like you, I could not get in to anyother FF story except for FF7.

Here are a list of RPG games that I loved and can play them over and over and over again:

Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic (X-Box)
Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic 2: Sith Lords (X-Box)
Suikoden 1 and 2 (PS1)
Suikoden 4 (PS2:3 didn't do it for me and haven't played 5 yet)
Legend of Legaia (PS1)
Legend of Legaia 2 (PS2)
Legend of Dragoon (PS1)

Those are the RPG games off the top of my head that I think are extremely awesome.

I think Square got off a bit after FFVIII, but with FFXII, they've got it back. The trick to enjoying FFX is to avoid the mini-games! GGGRRRRR!!! I HATED them! that was the most annoying part of the game.. in FFXII there are tons of sidequests and such, but it's all addicting and a lot of fun and challenge.. the super enemies are back and I really love FFXII. It's right up there with VII and VIII.

LOL.. remember in FFVI when you have a save point in a cave with the wind dragon? my friend got himself stuck there once with a super weak party and he'd just kept saving to the one save spot. lol. he called me and asked me to come over and get past the point or he'd have to reset the game. that was a tough fight! But you remember those super-challenging battles, huh? The first time I beat VIII, I had a party that was very underdeveloped and lacking in all the necessary magic.. it took several tries and a 2 hour battle on the try that succeeded, but I beat it. my friend couldn't believe i'd even gotten close to that point with such a weak party. that's probably my Jumbo Cactaur battle - although I did beat Lunar on Sega CD without playing the game.. my same friend couldn't beat the boss so he let me take a shot at it even though i'd never played the game.. after I beat the boss I had to leave because I wanted to play the game through myself and not start out seeing the ending.

I love RPGs like those classics.. the ones with a deep story and lots of enjoyable gameplay that make you play it over & over.. FFXII and KH2 are like that and I look forward to their sequels. The last Star Ocean was a great game, even if the story was a lame ripoff of Star Trek and the Matrix.. the game itself was stellar.

#4- Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
