A Little Tease.

These are a couple of the offerings from the guy who sent me Misty.  Just thought you might like a peek at his merchandise.  He takes good care of his fish and they are so tiny when they come.  It makes me all warm and fuzzy all over remembering how tiny Misty was and now she is getting to be such a big girl.  (Still tiny though compared to her big brothers)

Wow, those Bettas are gorgeous! I wonder if that white one is related to Misty?

LOL No these are Halfmoons and Misty is a Crowntail, but this young person (don't know really if it is a man or woman) is very kind to their fish and the way they are packed and sent tells me that. She came in a little box and was so padded. It was the day of the biggest blizzard of the year and the temperatures had been so COLD but she was in her box with a heat pack and insulation and just did fine. They don't overdo the shipping charges either.

halfmoon is a type of betta. The name pertains to the size of its tail. To be a halfmoon I believe the tail must be 90 degrees to 120 degrees.

I am going to send a chart for the different styles of Halfmoon and Crowntail fins and how they differ. I hope you can read it since I had to reduce it so much. The top three are Halfmoon fins and the bottom three are Crowntails.

It is from The Betta Handbook by Robert J. Goldstein, Ph.D. The chart appears on page 9.

I just thought you would enjoy a few more Halfmoon pictures.  I get the regular report from the eBay Live Fish offerings and since I had been told they would no longer be allowing Bettas to be sold on their website due to the treatment and because some of the breeders would not guarantee live delivery, I was surprised to see that my supplier is still selling there.  Just an observation.

Wow, they're all so gorgeous!...and a bit pricey too compared to the pet store...
That female reminded me of some of the females they sell at my lfs.  Can't...wait...to...get...Bettas... ;D

Yes they are pricey, I believe he feels that some of these could be possibe show quality Bettas so they are going for more. Believe me, compared to the show quality types I have seen on other sites, they are cheap. Most show quality run between $50.00 to $200.00 depending on type and markings. (and come from overseas)

You have to be careful of buying over any place like eBay and the like when it comes to live merchandise. You will come up with merchandise that is similar to the post but can sometimes not be the exact fish. The one thing about this particular person is you get the exact fish you ask for.

But they generally do not give the Live Fish Guarantee that the pet stores do. Generally only a matter of hours and then only with an unopened bag. Where most pet stores will give 2 weeks at least.

OOPS!!!!

I don't know how that happened. I did not mean for it to happen. I don't know what happened. SORRY. I meant to make a "Quote". Don't know how to do all the things I can do yet. I do apologize. Will have to watch it in the future. Maybe I need to check with the others.

Hey, no fair, you can modify anyone's post?
hehe you wouldn't want to trust me with the ability to do that! ;D

It's a fairly useful tool - a moderator could step in and take out foul language, make babble intelligible, or modify it so it doesn't seem as offensive.

Yes...although I'd be awfully tempted to misuse that ability ;D ;D

I saw a single fish for $2000 and a pair of koi for like $2500 on ebay.

Whoa! I could think of a lot better things to spend that kind of money on... like a huuuuge tank and a lot of other fish. (It always seems to come back to fish these days .

I have visited sites that sell "show" Bettas that sell them as "cheap" as $100.00 a breeding pair, but I am betting those are not their best. They are also located in places like Singapore and Hong Kong where you would pay a fortune to get them here.
