A List of Dwarf Cichlids That Can Live With Not So Soft Water and Higher Ph?

I know that it is more difficult to breed these fish with less than perfect water parameters, but I understand that some of the dwarf species will do well in a community tank with less than perfect water conditions. I understand that good, stable water conditions matter more than a perfect ph or water softness.

Is there a list of community-type dwarf cichlids anywhere that don't need very soft water?

Or are Bolivian Rams and German Blue Rams my only choices?

Thanks.

Jo

Even if they are your only choices I have a pair of Bolivians and I love them I would highly recommend them.

Thanks! Since I'm setting up a 37 gallon community tank, I know that I may only be able to put one pair in there; if I'm lucky, then two. However, I'm already thinking about setting up another tank. yeah, yeah, yeah!

my pair is in a 20 long, you would probably have room for 2 pairs but make sure there are lots of plants and things to break up the fishes line of sight so they can't contently see the other pair, and 2 clear separate territories. You should expect some squabbles but nothing to serious, If you set up 2 tanks you could put Bolivians in one and GBRs in another that way you get to experience both! Just make sure you can keep up on water quality as rams need high quality water .

This is true for most fish. Your choices depend on just how soft/hard your water actually is.
