A good setup tank

I was just wondering what would be a good setup for a Betta tank.
What kind of stuff should I put in? I mean like decoration or their natural habitat.
Hope I'm making sense!

 

Silk or live plants are best, so the betta's fins don't get torn (soft plastic are great too). Also, avoid any decorations that the betta might possibly get stuck in, as they will drown. I always color-coordinate my decorations to my fish colors... Red bettas get pastel pink/red, and so on... It's really just about having fun decorating. Make sure to leave plenty of room for your betta to swim, and add some plant/hide that they can hide behind if they feel shy. I always heard they love betta logs, but I've never owned one.

Edit- It would best to have at least 2.5 gals for your betta to swim, the small containers don't show their beauty off near enough.

 

Five gallons is prefered, but you can get away with 2 1/2 gallons.

 

I would lean towards 5 gallons. I made a thread awhile ago when I got a 2.5 gallon, and the consensus was that no betta-afficionado would keep a betta in a 2.5 gallon, and some thought that 5 was even too small.

Also, large-finned bettas are not the best swimmers, so make sure the current isn't too strong. I doubt that you'd be springing for a giant tank, but make sure it isn't too deep, as bettas need to reach the surface to swim.

My son has the same greek ruins piece in his betta tank! I need to add more plants though.

Most breeders and keepers I know would say a 2.5 is a good minimum. 5gal for inexperienced keepers. Bettas really force you to learn about water chemistry. Make sure you have atleast 1 cave and a nice amount of plants to hide.
