29 Gallon Tank A good nano anemone?

Right now I'm trying to put together plans for a nano reef that should be in operation around February of next year. I want to try to put an anemone in the tank, so is there any suggestions for a good hardy nano anemone? I know its a risk because they can sting corals and such. I plan to have some ocellaris that I hope might host it. So far I've thought of a Condy anemone or a BTA.

I don't know about a Condy, but BTA 's get over 12" in diameter very quicky. I have heard Condy's are aggressive, and will eat even clownfish. Maybe someone else here has kept Condy's, and will comment.

I heard that most clowns won't even host a condy. IMO anemones simply aren't suited for nano tanks. Clownfish don't need an anemone to thrive. If it's the aesthetics you're going for, maybe you could try a frogspawn coral and see if they host that. Some will. Mine prefers the Koralia though. LOL

If the Condy is the anemone I think it is, its Latin name contains the word "gigantia" or something like that. They tend to grow 12" across.

If you do a search for nano anemone, a lot of the links give the same suggestion harpua gave: Try going with an anemone-like coral.

Condy anemone is an Atlantic anemone. Wether will host clown fish or not, I never tried. Heard of people who claimed it did but never could confirm myself. Wasnt about to try expensive clowns(should I say wild clowns) on a $2-3 anemone.

Either case, WOuldnt recommend COndy nor any anemone for nano. DOnt know the size of nano but can aquascapes with many Sp of lps frags which can resemble anemone and are readily avail thru coral forums for lot less money. And as others have said, some clowns will/do use tentacle of lps as if it were anemone.

Condy or other anmeone probably will limit the types and amt of coral frags you can safely house in nano.

Had clowns (tomato) in 20G nano with cerianthus (tube anemone, that's right, my usename. Pretty powerful sting which left few marks on my arms for a while as did elegant corals, carpet anemone) w/o a problem until someone (children's friend) spooked one of clown by tapping on the glass. Clown flipped and went into spasm and was gone before I can do any, not that I could ve done something/anything to save the clown.

Hope this helped.
