Ive heard zucchinI can be good for fish, or even sliced cucumber, if you catch a small insect you can feed that to your fish as well. If you want to buy some stuff for your fish, many will absolutely love frozen blood worms or brine shrimp, blood worms are pretty much pure protein though and should only be fed as an occasional treat.

Many fish really love baby brine shrimp, which you can buy in egg form and hatch on your own. That may or may not be a very smelly project though.

My fish get: a variety of flake foods, freeze dried brine shrimp, live grindal worms, and diced spinach.
