A few ADF questions...about guppies and adfs.

I've had my 4 adfs for about a year and we decided to add 2 more to the mix. They've been in quarantine for about 7 weeks and I wanted to make sure another week is enough. They look and act healthy, but I wanted to make sure 8 weeks is enough.

I was thinking about adding a few guppies next. That would bring the tank total 6 adfs, 6 Nerite snails and two or three guppies. Will the tank be big enough?

How likely is it that the adfs will eat the guppies?

Will a male and one or two female guppies breed fast enough that the frogs won't be able to keep them in check?

Is there any added risk to my adfs when adding guppies? Can they carry chytrid? I know it doesn't harm fish, but does that mean they could make it through quarantine and then infect the frogs?

Anything else I may be missing?

Try to be patient for another month.
Gasp! I know, it's hard.
It can take that long for any symptoms of chytrid to show.

I don't know that guppies can be carriers of chytrid bu they can pass bacterial and virl infections to the frogs.

One thing to be concerned about when keeping adf's with fish is making sure your frogs get some food before the guppies.
I would not rely the frogs keeping your guppy population in check.

Another thing you might want to think about when keeping ADFs with fish is how wide they can open their mouths.

All that being said. there are people who keep them together.

I really prefer my frogs in a species only tank.

Post some pics soon.

What size is your tank. I looked at your profile but there is no information on your tank(s) there.

As active as guppies can be they may irritate the frogs during feeding times. And the frogs may, or at least try, to nip the fins of the guppies.

The only fish I keep with my frogs are albino catfish. When first introduced everyone would run from each other. Now nobody runs no matter who lands on who. It is interesting seeing the frogs land on the catfish or the catfish landing on the frogs.

So three months for quarantine? It's been a long 7 weeks, what's another 5 I guess.

I read the first three posts in that link and I'm not getting guppies. That looked horrible.

Thanks for the advice!

Sorry, it's in the headline, should've included it in the post. It's a 20g. I may look into albino cats to help with cleaning.

In my 20L tank I keep 8 (only 7 at the moment) ADF's, 2 Albino Corry catfish, 8 ghost shrimp, and 1 golden mystery snail.

So the 6/6 should be fine...and maybe a couple cats.

I have 5 adfs in a 10 gallons with a nerite snail and a cory sterbeI and never had a problem, I used to have 4 cherry shrimps but 2 ended up as a snack for the frogs. Since mid-October, I have 2 adfs in a quarantine tank and I am looking forward to put them in the main tank(that I would like to upgrade to a 20 gallons one day) Maybe we should post some pictures

The larger Cory species need 25G and schools of 6+. The smaller ones could easily be eaten by ADFs.

I would be wary of keeping Cories with ADFs as they have a spine on their dorsal fin. If the ADF ended up with a Cory in it's mouth, it could be game over for them both.xx

I'll have to post some pics, I just never have my camera handy when they're doing all the cool stuff that they do. I had some ghost shrimp before my adfs and they went cannibal. I was gonna get more, but I was worried about them nipping at sleeping frogs.

I just read all that same info about cories..think I'm just gonna stick to a frog tank. As lazy as my frogs are at feeding time, I can't imagine them ever catching a fish..but it's not worth the risk.
