A couple of questions.

I take it big and small stones are ok to have in a Betta tank? Do they exist in the natural habitats too?
Also, what size gravel is suitable for Bettas? Or it doesn't matter?
Sorry for all the questions, just that when I set up my tank I'd like it to be all natural

Bettas typically live in rice patties in asia. To make it as realistic as possible you would have to densely plant it and use a muddy bottom. With that being said it is ok to use regular gravel

Don't worry about asking too many questions!
Chances are if you were wondering someone else was also.

I've used regular size gravel and pea gravel with no problems.
Pea gravel is super cheap. A few dollars for a 50lb bag.
It's pretty dirty so it has to be rinsed really well.

We have gravel in one betta tank, tathian moon sand in another and ecocomplete in the last, the bettas don't seem to care one way or the other.

Pea gravel is cheap! We filled our 125gal with it and for a 3inch layer, it took 4 bags, which cost us a whopping $8.

I've had all the above w/out problems. Even had a bare bottom tank w/ fake ivy leaves. Another time had an indian almond leaf bottomed tank.

What's rice patties? How mould I create a muddy bottom? Would sand be better, or gravel and sand to kind of create the mud visually?

Watery bogs where rice grows.
