A Big Thanks To harpua2002!

She shipped my fish, plants, and indian almond leaves out yesterday afternoon and here it is, barely noon here and I have already received my package!

In it I received 5 chocolate gouramis, each in individual bags wrapped in newspaper, and more importantly all of whom are alive and appear to be healthy and active.

I aso received what I first thought was a too small amount of water lettuce which ended up spreading out into a very generous amount in the tank, certainly more than enough for sure.

I got plenty of indian almond leaves, I have lots left over.

It would appear that she has even thrown in a bag of the pellets has been feeding them.

The entire box came with the inside padded with styrofoam and filled with newspaper.

All in all, I am completely satisfied with my order, healthy fish and very good packaging. I cannot recommend harpua2002 enough based on this one order and I look forward to doing business with her in the future.

That's great!

Make sure you post pics of the gouramis. I remember that Harpua posted a video of them, and they were beautiful.

My first impression is how pretty they are, indeed. They look gorgeous. Right now they're swimming through the wood I layed out for them, the tank is now tannin-rich and they're exploring it all. They also dwell at the surface below the water lettuce and the indian leaves which haven't sunk yet.

I will update with pics and hopefully even a vid within the next few short days.

Chocolate gouramis are by far one of the most coveted of the labyrinth fish. Too bad they're like Rift Lake fish, that is, you can't keep them with anything but other fish in their habitat because their water qualities are so vastly different from most fish.

More good news: They are ALL eating! The food she sent was golden pearls which she even wrote on there which went over my head at first. In my defense she did write it with a very clear yellow marker LOL. But they're eating. Maybe they got a little hungry during their over night trip?

Don't you just love Harpua? I ordered plants from her, and they sat in the post office for 3 days, AFTER their two day trip, and they were still all green and happy =D Can't wait to see pics of your little guys

Haha, they got fasted before shipping so I'm sure they were extra hungry. Sorry about the yellow marker. LOL. It was the only one I could find.

Thank you for the kind words.

Well they darted right for the golden pearls. I'll let the marker slide, this time.

Right now they're swimming from spot to spot, chilling in one then going to another. One leads and the others follow. I will try for pics tonight, you just got to see them in person to really appreciate them though. I doubt my camera can do them justice and with my tank being blackwater it's so dark it's not easy to access photos taken of it, at least with my camera anyway.

The leaves are beginning to sink down more and more. Lettuce is healthy. It's under a good but not too strong light.

I don't plan to add anything else, maybe a few otto's in the future but nothing else.

Good afternoon,

Congrats on the new additions

I love doing fish business with Harpua! I can highly recommend her as well.

Keep us posted on your fish and I hope you can share some photos sometime soon, once they settle.

Best wishes for your fish!

Harpua works very hard to keep her fish happy and healthy! although I've never had anything shipped, I have bought quite a lot of fish and plants from her and have always been very satisfied.

Another bit of news is they have made it over night. They did take a couple minutes to get goin', I guess they were waking up? But they're doing good now, full colors are in tact; are now active. No loss of coloration, no signs of stress or lethargy. Everything's in control so far...I just want them past the 3 day mark then I feel entirely at ease haha. I really did work hard on their set up to get the water parameters good for them so I hope they're happy. I'm thinking I do the first water change, tomorrow morning? Warm aged declorinated water being aerated in buckets with peat granules is the water I'll be using by the way.

Good morning,

Glad to hear it! Hopefully everything will be fine and they'll live long happy lives. Like you, I worry too especially during the first 24 hours.

Have a nice weekend. Enjoy your new fish.

Had a very nice weekend and I've enjoyed them so far. They're still doing great, so I am convinced they're going to make it. I did my first 25% water change Saturday, probably will do another one tomorrow.

Might be a week or so for pics, I have a fluorescent hood that gives me precisely 1wpg of fluorescent light but it's so hard to take good pics which I blame on my amateur photography skills. But I am putting in an order for a glass canopy and strong T5 light. I believe you can have a bit more with blackwater since it would take more to illuminate the entire tank. Like the substrate perhaps, if you have plants in blackwater.
